553. What are the dhamma which are neither meritorious nor demeritoious?
When at a certain time one practises supramundane mental concentration which leads to liberation from the ills and sufferings of existence and to destruction of death and rebirth for the purpose of eradication of attachment to existence and of ill will and for the attainment of the third level of enlightenment (Anagami Magga) and by getting detached from sensual pleasures ...p... he achieves and remains in the first jhana,
When as a result of practising and cultivating just this supramundane meritorious mental concentration, and by getting detached from sensual pleasures ...p... he achieves and remains in the resultant first jhana,
- then at that time there arises:
